Your Relationship with God Can Begin Today!
Is your desire to be set free from the bondage of sin and come to the knowledge of the truth? Want to live an abundant life consisting of good health, prosperity, joy, peace, love, and forgiveness? There is someone who will never lie to, abuse, or forsake you. This is Jesus Christ. He is God's only provision for our sin. Through Him alone you can know God personally and experience His love.
Who is Jesus Christ?
Jesus is the eternal, self-existent God. As first born of all creation, Jesus is greatest over all creation and He is preexistent and unique as the Son. The name "Jesus" means "The Lord Shall Save." It expresses His work on earth to save us from sin and to deliver us from every burden and bondage. The name "Christ" means "the Anointed One". This implies that He is the promised Messiah and is anointed by God's Spirit to be the ultimate Prophet, Priest, and King. You can have this same spiritual anointing as the Holy Spirit anoints your heart and mind with God's love and truth. Source Scriptures: Matthew 1:21; Isaiah 10:27 and 61:1; Colossians 1:15-20, 27
Why did God send Jesus?
Love is both a characteristic of God, our Father, and an important part of His nature. Because of God's love, He sent His only son, not to destroy us, but to save us all from sin. Because all of us have a sin nature, we have no way in our own power to fully obey the Law of God. We cannot do anything to save ourselves. But what Jesus did on our behalf was absolutely righteous. He perfectly obeyed the Father so that His righteousness might be put on our account. He paid the debt we owe because of our sin. Source Scriptures: John 3:16; Luke 9:56; 2 Timothy 4:18
What prevents us from knowing God personally?
We were created to have fellowship with God; but, because of our own stubborn self-will, we choose to go our own independent way and our fellowship with God is broken. Our self-will, which is shown by an attitude of active rebellion or an inactive concern, is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin. Source Scriptures: Romans 3:23 and 6:23
How do we obtain a personal relationship?
Step 1 Admit by confessing that you are a sinner. Recognize that all your good works will never be enough to earn God's forgiveness for your sin, and that He wants you to accept salvation as His gift to you. (Romans 3:23 and 6:23)
Step 2 Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He loves you enough to have died for you. Believe that His death assures your forgiveness and life eternally. (John 3:16 and 6:40)
Step 3 Repent of your sins. Ask God to forgive you and He will because of His death on the cross. Then sincerely choose to turn away from sin in every area of your life. (Acts 3:19; Ephesians 4:22; Colossians 3:8)
Step 4 Yield your heart to Christ Jesus and accept Him as Lord and Savior of and over your life. Receive His love for you and allow Him to direct your life. (Romans 10:9-10; Revelation 3:20)
What should we do after being saved?
Now that you have received the FREE gift of salvation, you can continually benefit from its blessings. Remember that you are saved from sin (enemies, bondage, sickness, disease, and hell). Source Scriptures: Matthew 9:35; Luke 1:71; John 8:36; Acts 4:12; Romans 6:22 and 10:1; 1 Peter 2:9 and 2:24
Go to God in Prayer The early Christians "continued steadfastly in prayers." You must have a two-way conversation with God every day for instruction, guidance, and inner strength. Source Scriptures: Acts 2:42; James 5:16
Read the Bible Daily As you meditate and study the Bible, you will be transformed and renewed both physically and spiritually. God wants you to learn and apply scripture to help you live better each day and have a closer walk with Him. Source Scriptures: Matthew 11:29; Acts 17:11; Colossians 3:16
Obey God's Word In obedience to His word, do not forsake to assemble yourself with the believers. Find a Bible-believing church and start attending regularly. This will help you to obey God, to grow in your love for Him, and to gain knowledge of His ways. Source Scriptures: Acts 2:46; Hebrews 10:24-25
Witness for Christ Once you are saved, it should be a great privilege and responsibility to "bring glad tidings of good things" to others who don't know Him. Source Scriptures: Matthew 16:15; Romans 10:14-15
Here's a prayer of faith you can say to accept Jesus into your heart:
"Father God, Thank you for loving me so much that You sent Your son to die for my sins. I believe He died and rose again from the dead according to your Word. I confess that I am a sinner. I now ask you, Jesus, to come into my heart to wash me from all sin, make me a new creature, and be Lord of and over my life. Help me Lord to yield my ways to Your ways and live the life that You predestined for me from this day on in Jesus' Name, Amen."
